  • I would like singing lessons for my child please, how do I arrange this?
    You're in the right place! The first step is to send an enquiry email to hello@vocally-yours.co.uk and we will be in touch to arrange an initial free 15-minute voice consultation, via Zoom to 'e' introduce, say hello, talk voice and for your teacher to discover your child's vocal aspirations. No preparation is required.
  • Do you teach adult singing lessons?
    Absolutely! All ages welcome here. Please email hello@vocally-yours.co.uk and we will be in touch to arrange an initial free 15-minute voice consultation, via Zoom to 'e' introduce, say hello, talk voice and for your teacher to discover your vocal aspirations. No preparation is required.
  • What style of singing do you teach?
    We specialise in contemporary commercial music (CCM), pop and musical theatre.
  • When can I start singing lessons?
    Please email hello@vocally-yours.co.uk to express your interest and include all of your availability (day and times) and we will get back to you with a match (hopefully...!). We try our best to find a suitable time but due to a busy timetable this is not always possible. We do encourage a trial lesson in the first instance and more details will be shared on this after the initial enquiry.
  • Is my child to young for singing lessons ?
    It depends, every person is unique and really, it comes down to the question of how well focused is your child? Could they remain focused in a 45-minute singing lesson without being distracted and really benefit from your investment into a private singing lesson, with a specialist vocal teacher? As a base point we usually say start singing lessons at the age of 10-years of age but we do teach children as young as six.
  • Where do singing lessons take place?
    Currently, private lessons take place in the owners home grown practice space. You will be introduced to this space in your initial free 15-minute voice consultation.
  • Can I, as a parent sit in on my child's singing lesson?
    Of course! We have a small waiting area if you wish to sit and listen to your child's lesson, or at least until they feel comfortable. All parents are welcome into the practice space, any time.
  • Do you mind if I bring my other child whilst I wait for my daughter / sons singing lesson?
    Unfortunately, due to health and safety, it is not possible for siblings to be present in the waiting area.
  • Do you train students for examination ?
    Yes! Examination is a great structural pathway and supports with training the voice. We teach two types of syllabus; Rockschool (RSL) specialising in pop and London College of Music (LCM) which specialises in musical theatre. We are proud to say that we have a 100% pass rate. Grade 6, 7 and 8 also contribute towards UCAS points.
  • Do I have to do exams?
    Nope. They are not for everyone and that's fine. You can learn the syllabus or, we completely tailor lessons to suit you and create your own pathway.
  • I would like to learn to sing but I'm really nervous.
    That's natural. The first step is to send an enquiry email to hello@vocally-yours.co.uk and we will be in touch to arrange an initial free 15-minute voice consultation, via Zoom to 'e' introduce, say hello, talk voice and for your teacher to discover your vocal aspirations, no preparation is required. We are able to squash any nerves by introducing your teacher before you meet them in person, so that you feel more comfortable in your first lesson.
  • Are your lessons face to face?
    Yes. Although we do offer online lessons to which, is another option.
  • Do you teach online singing lessons?
    Yes. We have been teaching online for a couple of years now and so far so strong. It allows those who may not be local the option of having a singing lesson with Vocally Yours ® and /or the option of a remote lesson, if you still want one whilst you are on holiday which, a lot of students do!
  • How regular are singing lessons, if I sign up?
    A regular Vocally Yours ® student is contracted to a minimum of 37-lessons per academic calendar year, if they sign up in Sept and then its pro rata, depending on where in the year (month) you, or your child begins lessons. You can download the Vocally Yours teaching-week calendar below:
  • Can I just have ad hoc singing lessons if I want?
    We do offer a pay-as-you-go option with a 48-hour cancellation policy and lessons are dependant on availability. This flexible approach to lessons tend to suit busy adults who may need to swap and change dates and times on occasion, due to their own busy timetable.   • I have an audition and I need help with a song, can you help me?
    We sure can! We have many performers that pop in to spruce up their vocal cords and gather tips, tricks and professional advice on how to look after their singing voice and get the most out of it, to ensure they shine in their audition.
  • Do you teach in the day time?
    Yes. We currently offer day time lessons on Mondays and Fridays.
  • How long is a singing lesson?
    We suggest booking a 45-minute lesson to allow for a good vocal warm-up, to develop your vocal technique and to allow plenty of time to focus on your song, as well as vocal development.
  • What days do you teach?
    We teach Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. To view our Vocally Yours® Main Teaching Weeks Calendar, you can download it by clicking on the file below.
  • Can I just attend singing lessons to get better at singing, for myself?
    Yes, absolutely! Not everyone wants to train for examination or audition and that's fine. We will work together on a song that you enjoy and work at your own pace, to ensure you get the most out of your lessons.
  • What does a singing lesson involve?
    All lessons are tailored depending on the individuals goal. A generic lessons involves; vocal warm-up's, vocal technique (including breath work), song, vocal consultancy to develop and improve your voice.
  • Can I have a trial singing lesson to see if they are for me before I commit?
    You certainly can! We offer a 30-minute trial singing lesson at £18 where you will experience an introductory singing lesson, consisting of vocal warm-ups, tips & tricks from a professional vocal coach focusing on your choice of song.
  • How much is a singing lesson ?
    30-minute singing lesson - £18.00 (for complete beginners and/or young children) 45-minute singing lesson - £27.00 60-minute singing lesson - £36.00 Please email hello@vocally-yours.co.uk to find out more.
  • How do I pay for a singing lesson?
    You will be invoiced, monthly. (i) Regular Student' (weekly same day/time across the main teaching weeks calendar) - you will be invoiced for the same fee monthly and payment will always be on the same date, each month to make it easy to remember. (ii) Pay-As-You-Go: You will be invoiced and payment is due on the same day as your lesson.
  • When do I pay?
    (i) Regular Student' (weekly same day/time across main teaching weeks calendar) - payment is due on the 14th of each month. (ii) Pay-As-You-Go Student: Payment is due on the day of your lesson (48-hour cancellation policy).
  • What happens if I need to cancel a lesson that I have already paid for?
    Missed lessons (Regular Students) (i) If you use a flexi-credit your last lesson of the academic year shifts to the 38th or 39th teaching week. Please Note: A flexi-credit must be booked with 48-hours’ notice by emailing your teacher at hello@vocally-yours.co.uk or the lesson is billable. (ii) If you have no flexi-credit's remaining, all missed lessons are billable. (iii) Payment remains the same amount each month, even if you miss a lesson and/or use a flexi-credit. Missed lessons (Pay-As-You-Go) (i) If you give less than 48-hours notice then the lesson is billable. If you give plenty of notice, get in touch and we'll look at other suitable dates to get your singing lesson booked in.
  • What happens if I am not available for my rescheduled lessons on the 38th or 39th calendar week?
    If you chose to use your flexi-credit's throughout the main teaching weeks calendar and you are not available for your rescheduled lessons on on the 38th & 39th calendar week, then your missed lessons are billable.
  • If I am late to my lesson do I still need to pay the full amount of the lesson?
    Yes. It is the responsibility of the student or the parent of a student to ensure they arrive to their lesson on time.
  • What is the late payment penalty fee?
    Late payment penalty fee: (a) Any late payment will be charged at 2% of one lesson fee for each week of late payment from day 15 of the invoice due date. (b) Any late fee penalties will be shown in your next invoice series and will be expected to be paid in full. (c) Any late penalty fees that are not paid will result in the full termination of lessons with immediate effect and must still be paid. All late penalty fees will be donated to a chosen local voice cancer charity trust at the end of academic year 2024.   • What is the late lesson collection penalty fee?
    Late lesson collection penalty fee: (a) Any late collection of students from lessons will be charged at 1% off one lesson fee for every 5-minutes of a late collection from the end of the lesson time. All late collection fees will be donated at the end of year to the dog’s trust of behalf of Barry Hogan (customer service).   • Why should I have to pay a late penalty fee?
    Vocally Yours ® is a business that operates professionally and respectfully. We expect our customers to adopt the same ethos and respect your singing teacher's living wage as you would any other profession, by paying your bill on time.
  • What is a lesson flexi-credit?
    Flexi-credits are to allow regular students some flexibility across the main teaching weeks. You may have a holiday booked at the beginning or end of September or you have a show booked that you would like to go and see during the week and so, flexi credits allow for some flexibility across the year. Flexi credits only apply to 'Regular Students' (weekly same day/time across main teaching week calendar): (i) Regular Students, are entitled to two flexi-credits per year. (ii) Fortnightly Regular Students, are entitled to one flexi-credit per year. The above applies to students who begin lessons in September and will be pro rata for any student starting half way through the academic year.
  • How do I use a flexi-credit?
    Please email hello@vocally-yours.com to inform your teacher that you will be using a flexi-credit and include the date of the missed lesson. (i) You must give 48-hours notice or, the lesson will be marked as absent and will be billable. (ii) If you use two flexi-credits within the main calendar, it will mean your last lesson of the academic year will end on the 39th teaching week rather than the 37th but you will only have had and paid for 37 lessons still. (iii) Your lesson, on the 38th or 39th (if you used a flexi-credit) will remain on your usual day and time. (IV) If you do not attend your lessons on the 38th or 39th, the lesson is billable.
  • How many lesson credits do I have per academic year?
    (i) Regular Students, are entitled to two flexi-credits per year. (ii) Fortnightly Regular Students, are entitled to one flexi-credit per year. The above applies to students who begin lessons in September and will be pro rata for any student starting half way through the academic year.
  • Do I have to pay for my lesson still if I use a lesson credit?
    You usual monthly instalment continues at the same price per month but you will still only be charged for your contracted 37 lessons per academic year. For example: If you are a 'Regular Student' and you use two flexi-credits in the middle of the main teaching week calendar, it will mean that your last lesson of the academic year will end on the 39th teaching week but you will only have had and paid for 37 lessons still.
  • I have no credits left but I need to book another week off within a main teaching week, what should I do?
    Please inform your teacher at hello@vocally-yours.co.uk that you will not be attending your lesson. Your missed lesson is billable.
  • Will I be charged for a lesson I miss within a teaching week, if I have no credits left?
    Yes. Your lesson will be billable.
  • When are Vocally Yours® main teaching weeks?
    You can download the Vocally Yours ® main teaching weeks calendar below.
  • How many lessons are there per year if I sign up as a regular student?
    (i) Regular students are contracted to pay for 37 singing lessons per year, unless lessons are terminated (1-month notice period). (ii) Your first lesson will start on the first teaching week noted on the main teaching week calendar. (iii) Your last lesson will end on the 37th teaching week noted on the main teaching week calendar unless, you have used your flexi-credits whereby your last lesson will be on the 38th or the 39th teaching week available, stated within the calendar. ... Any students that start lessons later than Sept, lessons will be pro rata and the exact amount for the calendar year, will be stated in your T&C's.
  • Do I have to have 37 lessons per year?
    Only if you have signed up as a 'regular student' are you contracted to pay for 37 lessons, per academic year, unless you terminate your contract completely (1-month notice period). There is a more flexible option which, is pay-as-you-go lessons (48-hour notice and cancellation policy). This tends to suit busy adults who may need to swap and change lesson dates and times on occasion, due to their own busy timetable but lessons are dependant on availability.
  • Do I have to have pay for 37 lessons per year even if I miss some lessons?
    If you have signed up as a 'regular student' then yes, as you are contracted to pay for 37 lessons per academic year unless, you terminate your contract completely (there is a 1-month notice period).
  • Do I have to have 39 lessons if I don't use any of my flexi-credits and i've already had 37-lessons?
    No. You are only contracted to pay for 37 lessons, per academic year unless you request additional lessons where you would be invoiced separately for the additional cost.
  • Can I have 39 singing lessons per year within Vocally Yours ® main teaching week calendar?
    Yes. You will be invoiced separately for the additional two lessons.
  • Are Vocally Yours® teaching weeks based on local school term time dates?
    Lessons do not necessarily coincide with local school term time dates. Main teaching weeks are decided upon at the beginning of the academic year and although they mostly do follow the pattern of the local school term time, they do not strictly follow the dates, as Vocally Yours is its own business and sets its own teaching week dates.   • Why does Vocally Yours® not strictly follow local school term time holiday dates?
    Vocally Yours ® is its own business with its own calendar. Not every person that takes lessons works towards an academic local school calendar.
  • Do I have to pay for a missed lesson, if I use one of my flexi-credits?
    Your usual monthly instalment continues at the same price per month but you will still only be charged for your contracted 37 lessons per academic year. For example: If you are a 'Regular Student' and you use two flexi-credits in the middle of the main teaching week calendar, it will mean that your last lesson of the academic year will end on the 39th teaching week but you will only have had and paid for 37 lessons still.
  • Do I have to pay for a missed lesson if I have no flexi-credits left?
    Yes. You are contracted to pay for 37 lessons, per academic year unless your terminate your lesson contract (1-month notice period).
  • If I have used up my two flexi-credits on main teaching weeks, can I reschedule to another day for my third missed lesson?
    No. Vocally Yours ® does not have the capacity to cater for any missed lessons nor individuals timetables.
  • My child has a school trip during a Vocally Yours® main teaching week, do I have to pay for the missed lesson?
    You can choose to use a remaining flexi-credit to book the lesson off, if you do not have any flexi-credits left then yes, the lesson is billable.
  • My child has a school trip during a Vocally Yours® main teaching week, do I have to pay for the missed lesson if I have no flexi-credits left?
    Yes. You are contracted to pay for 37 lessons, per academic year.
  • Can I book a lesson off if its my / my child's birthday?
    Happy Birthday! You can choose to use a remaining flexi-credit to book the lesson off or, if you have no flexi-credits left you can still book the lesson off but it will be billable, as you are contracted to pay for 37 lessons, per academic year.
  • I'm going to the theatre, to see a gig or I am at a party tonight, can I rearrange my lesson?
    You have the option of using a flexi-credit. (i) If you use a flexi-credit your last lesson of the academic year shifts to the 38th or 39th teaching week. (ii) If you have no flexi-credit's remaining, all missed lessons are billable. (iii) Payment remains the same amount each month, even if you miss a lesson and/or use a flexi-credit.
  • I'm going to the theatre, to see a gig or I am at a party tonight, can I miss my lesson and not pay?
    You may book a lesson off with a flexi-credit or, if you have no flexi-credits remaining, you may book a lesson off but this will be billable.
  • I forgot about my lesson, do I still have to pay / can I use a flexi-credit?
    (i) Yes, you still have to pay as you are contracted to pay for 37 lessons, per academic year. (ii) You must offer 48-hours notice to use a flexi-credit otherwise, your lesson is billable.
  • My children have different term times to the Birmingham school term time holidays so can I book extra time off during Vocally Yours ® main teaching weeks and not pay?
    No. Vocally Yours ® is its own business with its own calendar and each 'regular student' is contracted to 37 lessons (minimum) per academic year. You have the option of using your lesson flexi-credits if, you wish to book time off. If you have no flexi-credits remaining, please inform your teacher of your absence (lessons billable). Please Note: Lessons do not necessarily coincide with local school term time dates.
  • I want to book holiday during Vocally Yours ® main teaching weeks what should I do?
    You have the option of using a flexi-credit or, if you have no credits left then your lesson is billable and you must inform your teacher of your absence at hello@vocally-yours.co.uk (i) If you use a flexi-credit your last lesson of the academic year shifts to the 38th or 39th teaching week. (ii) If you have no flexi-credit's remaining, all missed lessons are billable. (iii) Payment remains the same amount each month, even if you miss a lesson and/or use a flexi-credit.
  • Why should I have to pay for a missed lesson if I have no flexi-credit's left?
    (i) You have agreed to the T&C's agreement committing to regular singing lessons within Vocally Yours ® 'main teaching weeks calendar' which, secures you your allocated date and time slot each week, for your private singing lesson. Vocally Yours ® is a business that operates professionally and respectfully. We expect our customers to adopt the same ethos and respect your singing teacher's living wage as you would any other profession, by paying your bill on time regardless of whether or not you choose, to attend a lesson or not.
  • What happens if I need to cancel a lesson that I have already paid for and I have no flexi-credits left?
    Please inform your teacher of your absence at hello@vocally-yours.co.uk (i) If you have no flexi-credit's remaining, all missed lessons are billable.
  • Can I reschedule a missed lesson ?
    (i) If you are using a flexi-credit then your lesson is shifted to week 38 on the main teaching week calendar. (ii) There is no option to reschedule any missed lessons within the same week as your Vocally Yours® teacher does not have the capacity to reschedule to suit individuals timetables. Monday students will be offered a reschedule lesson when their usual lesson falls on a bank holiday Monday.
  • Why can't I just reschedule a missed lesson in an additional teaching week?
    (i) If you use a flexi-credit, your lesson(s) are shifted to week 38 or 39 of Vocally Yours main teaching weeks calendar, at your usual time. (ii) If you have no flexi-credits remaining, then your lessons are billable and you will not be offered additional lessons free of charge, across the additional teaching weeks because; the additional teaching weeks are for additional booked lessons (billable).
  • Do I have to pay if my teacher cancels a lesson?
    (i) It is unlikely a teacher will cancel a lesson in a main teaching week however, if the unforeseen does happen then they will either offer you a rescheduled lesson, if you wish, or they will simply shift the lesson to the following week. As the main teaching timetable does offer 39-weeks there is room for a little flexibility, meaning they will still reach the 37-week lesson agreement. (ii) If a student has used there two flexi-credits and then a teacher unexpectedly cancels and their is risk of not meeting the 37-weeks, then your teacher will offer you a rescheduled lesson, or the student will not be charged for the missed lesson.
  • My singing lesson is on bank holiday Monday, can I reschedule my lesson?
    Yes. Rescheduled lessons will be offered usually within the same week or, offered during an optional or additional teaching week.
  • I can no longer make my rearranged lesson, can I reschedule my rescheduled lesson? (applying to Monday bank holiday students only)
    If you inform your Vocally Yours® teacher within 48-hours notice of your rescheduled lessons then yes, you can reschedule, otherwise the lesson is billable.
  • I am not available on any of the rescheduled dates you have to offered me, can I have a lesson at another time to suit me? (applying to Monday bank holiday students only)
    Vocally Yours ® is unable to offer any alternate date and times other than those available within the calendar. If you are unavailable within the bank holiday week for your rescheduled lesson offer then, your lesson will be shifted to week 38 or 39 to ensure you still receive your 37 lessons.
  • Will I be charged if I cannot attend my rescheduled lesson? (applying to only bank holiday Monday students)
    If you cancel within less that 48-hours yes, the lesson is billable.
  • I can no longer commit to regular singing lessons and wish to terminate my contract, is there a notice period?
    We are sorry to see you go! Yes. There is a one month notice period which must be given in writing too hello@vocally-yours.co.uk Once a Vocally Yours ® Student always a Vocally Yours ® Student 🎶🎤You are welcome to return back to lessons anytime and remember, don't forget to invite us to your shows when you are rich and famous, front row tickets please!
  • Do I have to attend lessons in the notice period?
    You do not have to attend but contractually, the lessons must still be paid for regardless of whether you attend the lessons or not.
  • I need to take a break from singing lessons for a while, can I end my contract and start back up again at a later date?
    Absolutely. We do not have to say goodbye forever and we understand life commitments can pop up from time time. To terminate your contract, please email hello@vocally-yours.co.uk. As you are planing to return to lessons in the future, you may want to indicate a return date in your email. Please bear in mind that that we cannot guarantee an immediate space on your return due to high demand, there could be a waiting list.
